What's your story? Tell us a little something about yourself.
In my first job, I worked as a receptionist for my father, who owned his self named real estate brokerage, Isaac G Hodges III & Associates Realtors on the east side of San Antonio. After college, I married, raised 3 sons with my husband a law enforcement officer in rural Gonzales Tx. During that time, I had a 38 year career with Child Protective Services and worked in all areas of Direct Practice with families and children as a caseworker and supervisor. I spent my last 12 years in Quality Assurance to improve the agency’s practices with families and children to meet state and federal laws and standards. I retired to care for my father after consecutive hospitalizations and failing health. I feared losing him. I had spent 5 years participating with my father and brother providing 24 hour support and care for our mother while working flexible hours. My family were still reeling from my mother’s passing and though it was 4 years later when my father’s consecutive hospitalizations began, I decided to retire immediately to give him the best chance at recovery with full time care. He did recover and threw himself back into his scaled down real estate business. After a year of being his driver and secretary he convinced me to join him in his business as an agent to pursue us becoming joint brokers in his agency. However 2 years later, the sudden and unexpected passing of my oldest son due to Covid was a tragedy my family couldn’t bare and seven weeks later my father passed on the same date of our mother’s passing. I remain in real estate, managing my family’s rentals, learning this business I grew up in with the goal of reopening my father’s 53 year old business that he had hoped to pass on to his family. He was a natural businessman with an entrepreneurial spirit that began in his childhood. I am none of those but found we were equally gifted a helping people. My goal is to find my footing in this business using my strengths to continue this work of helping people and eventually this business my father valued.
